And Happy New Year, Too!
We went out for dinner and dancing on New Year's Eve at a Christian singles dance. While this may sound strange, since we're neither single nor Christian, we knew the DJ and followed the music. Our friend Rita (leftmost) joined us. On outings like this, she plays the third wife, just for fun. Although I wouldn't actually mind if she became our third wife, since we all like her a lot. Maybe after she recovers from her ongoing divorce--
I alternated dancing with the three of them, and we got a lot of attention from the sideliners, and from the pastor, too. I danced with some of the single women, and introduced some of them to the single men. Since I'm open to a lifetime relationship with a third wife, does that make me married or single?
We fielded a lot of the usual questions, which built with intensity as the evening progressed. "So, did you come here with somebody?" a lady asked me. "Yes, with three others."
"What's your relationship to them?" -- "They're my wives."
"That's impossible! What's your relationship, really?" -- "See my rings? They're my wives."
"Do you mean they're someone else's wives?"
Finally I gave up. "Pick one," I said. "The other two are her sisters."
Enough excitement for an evening. We drank sparkling cider at midnight, and kissed all around. As we were leaving, the pastor added, perhaps a bit jealously, "Thanks for bringing your entourage."
